The Witherspoon ROUGE Watch designed by Michael Graves

The Witherspoon ROUGE Watch named for and in honor of The Paul Robeson Center for the Arts in Princeton, New Jersey. It’s project’s Honorary Chairman and designer Michael Graves described it as a “landmark project for Princeton which will make an enormous contribution to the cultural life of our community.” Witherspoon is also the namesake of his timepieces for PROJECTS, like his building.

Michael Graves was a master of colors as is witnessed in his architecture.  It didn’t take us long to dig into his archives of 2009 to find his many uses of colors.  His love of blue and red in all its variations is all omnipresent.  We are now happy to present a 2019/2020 variation!

The Witherspoon ROUGE Watch follows the previous Navy, Brass, Charcoal, Orange, Blue, Mint, Green, Black and White versions but now in a bold ROUGE color with a deep blue color leather band. As with the other Witherspoon watches this new variation evokes the rich tones of the building’s historic earth tones and bricks as well as its bold vistas of the town’s center. The Witherspoon ROUGE Watch is filled with subtle detail; from the matching blue color on the crown (that which turns and sets the time), to the matching blue color of the second hand. There is no misreading the time here. The Witherspoon ROUGE Watch has large numbers with raised indexes in a subtle silver color.

Witherspoon ROUGE measures 40mm in diameter (1.6″), is 8.85mm (0.35″) high, made of brushed stainless steel, and complemented by a 20mm blue color leather band (3/4″).
