Bainbridge House Gold Plated Ornament by Design Concepts

Design Concepts by Joan Ellis

This ornament is from a series of Princeton historic landmark ornaments.  These beautiful gold plated solid brass ornaments are certain to become a treasured heirloom.

Bainbridge House is the headquarters of the Historical Society of Princeton.  Job Stockton, cousin of Richard, bought the land in 1765.  Robert Smith, designer and builder of Nassau Hall, most likely built the house in 1766.  Dr. Absalom Bainbridge rented the home and in 1774, his son William was born there.  William was the commander of the frigate Constitution, "Old Ironsides," in the War of 1812.  Commodore Bainbridge, U.S. Navy, became a national hero for his well-publicized defeat of the Barbary pirates.
